ive heard of waiting 12-18 months to get 1. i think there are enough people who'd like to rent but there are none available, that i know of. with the economic situation we have here, there were 4-5 orphans on the mercedes lot today. those would be smart 451s that people ordered then turn down when the car arrives. those left over cars are what the dealers are selling for way over price and in some cases actually getting it. they ad a few extras but make a killing on the price. but then again most of the mercedes are well into the 6 diget amounts, why would they mess with peanuts when they can sell the whole cake. but i do enjoy my car. we did the pre-party cruise today and it was nice, only 3 cars, 5 people, but we were able to take care of what we needed to and stopped for lunch. lunch was free because the owner said we'll be bringing him more business with the 0ct party., very nice man. i paid $17,000 to a private party then a additional 1100 for tax and registration. i did order 1 but i bought a orphan instead, (because i wanted it right now). ive heard that some people pay as much as 25,000 for the convertable after the dealer marks them up. a orphan is where someone ordered it and then changed their mind. i sold my 2006 mustang gt supercharged with 565 hp on the motor to buy a 71 hp tiny car, and i love it. theres mostly positive thought and things said but occassionally there is a negative, i think their jealous because their stuck in their huge gas hogs. i also own a 2002 ranger pick up and a 2004 vw bettle turbo s, for the wife. id like to put a trailer hitch on the back and tow a small tent trailer for my rv, recreational vehicle. heres a link to the trailer im looking at. www.timouttrailers.org . today im going to meet more smart owners for a precruise checkout for a meetup we'll be having in oct at the smart dealer. looks like fun to me. and its at http://importcar.meetup.com/213/calendar/8314285/ its good to hear from our smart family on the other side of the world. peace, don
